Chamba: Union Steel Minister Virbhadra Singh come down heavily on BJP over lashing of baton charge on Congress activist near Vidhan Sabha complex yesterday by accusing the government of practising ‘Bullets and Baton ‘ rule. The Union minister, who was here to join a condolence meeting, alleged that in the 90s BJP government headed by Shanta Kumar took lives of innocent apple growers by ordering firing on them and now Prem Kumar Dhumal government was also following the same policy. Singh was referring to yesterday’s baton charge on a peaceful demonstration of Congress protesters in which about six agitators sustained injuries.

He also slammed the state government for alleged large-scale transfer of land to non-Himachalis. He said that big industries units should be set up in the state but they should not be allowed at the cost of degradation of green cover and natural resources. Union minister also come down heavily on the state government for ‘cleverly’ taking the credit for centrally- sponsored scheme. Singh was in the district to express his condolence to Congress MLA and his ardent supporter Kuldeep Singh Pathania over the demise of his mother recently.
