Union Health Minister defends BJP on Smart City

The Union Health Minister JP Nadda today defended Central Government for not depriving Shimla town of Smart City Mission Project while seeking interacting to media persons today. Mr. Nadda who was inducted to lead Shimla Municipal Election campaign said that Union Government did not discriminate with the Shimla town, however, it was the negligence of ruling CPI(M) in the MC and failure of Congress State Government to keep the town out of this project.

 

The day after CPI(M) blamed BJP and Congress Government at Centre and State for filing an affidavit in State High Court that Shimla was not suitable and qualifies for the Smart City Project Mr. Nadda said that BJP would bring the town under Smart City project if its supported candidates elected to Shimla MC. Dismissing the CPI(M) allegations that BJP and Congress colluded to keep this town out of Smart City race he said that it was negligence of CPI(M) Mayor and Deputy Mayor who did not press the issues to include in the National flagship program.

 

Mr. Nadda said that the Centre remained active to help the people of Shimla in the crisis. Soon after the outbreak of Jaundice in this capital two years ago, I have sent a team of Union Health Minister to view the situation and also send a team of National Instituted of Virology from Pune to test the infestation of the outbreak. He showed concern that the State Government did not respond to Union Health Department plea to set up the instituted of virology or center for studying the water born diseases. He said that the project was pending as the state did not allot the land required for it.

 

Mr. Nadda said that the Union Government is committed for the restoration of heritage status of Shimla town. Later Mr. Nadda addressed the party activists and its candidates who are in the fray for Shimla MC election. In a press statement issued by BJP, leader Mahinder Singh Thakur said that party would bring Shimla in Smart City Project. Former Horticulture Minister Mr. Narindra Bragat was also campaigned for the MC elections.
