CBI arrests a joint Director Department of Industries (HP) & a person in bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Joint Director, Department of Industries, Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and a private person while demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs. Five lakh from the complainant. A case was registered U/s 120-B of IPC & Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the accused on a complaint.

 

It was alleged that the complainant, a Chartered Accountant & Consultant to a private pharma firm based at Baddi (HP) had submitted a file of said firm in the office of Joint Director, Department of Industries, SWCA, Baddi (HP) for claiming 15 per cent capital investment subsidy on the purchase of new machinery installed in the said factory, as per the policy of Govt. of India. It was further alleged in the complaint that the Joint Director and his private accomplice were demanding bribe of Rs. 10 lakh for passing the claim of Rs.50 lakh of said private firm. On the request of the complainant, it was agreed to accept Rs.Five lakh as first installment.

 

CBI laid a trap at Chandigarh wherein the accused were caught while demanding & accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.Five Lakh. Search was conducted at the residence of accused in Sector 19-C, Chandigarh which led to recovery of Rs.38,960/-(approx); a few US Dollars & Euros; 170 gm Gold; 350 gm Silver; papers pertaining to LIC policies and bank locker keys. Another search of office premises of accused is underway. Both the arrested accused will be produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Chandigarh.
