Highway hooligans loot marriage palace, injure four

Mandi: Hooligans injured four persons and damaged furniture at Valley Heart Marriage Palace in Didaur near Mandi on the National Highway-21 on Thursday night, and allegedly also decamped with Rs 90,000.

According to owner of the place, Virender Saini, 10 persons came to the restaurant and after ordering for snacks they started drinking. When the owner objected to the drinking, they got flared up and started fighting with the staff and damaged furniture. In the melee, four persons including the owner sustained injuries.

On receiving information about the incident, in-charge of Balh Police station, Surinder Pal, rushed to the spot and registered a case against the miscreants. He told reporters that the accused persons had been identified and would be arrested soon.

People in the nearby villages complained that brigades of drunken youths had been creating lawlessness in the entire Balh valley where illicit liquor is allegedly distilled on a large scale. They have demanded that night patrolling be done in order to control the drunkards.
