Three Departments of NAAC grade-A HPU without toilets: Scholars


Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) which was given grade-A, status by National Accreditation Assessment Council (NAAC) recently seems to be finest example of Swachh Bharat Abhiyian as most populous education institution running without toilets facility to its thousands of Students since its inception of 1972.


Ph.D scholars of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication exposed the hollowness of University administration after highlighting the issues stating that three top departments of university lack the minimum facility even available in KG school. Scholars pointed out that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, flagship program of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi shows no tangibles emulation by the university and tall claims of building 80 lakh toilets in country under this program seems to mere lip service here.


The University offers lone three toilet for sake of staff, which also equally capricious toward them as they could not venture inside it as it was kept under lock and key all the time. All three humanitarian faculties seems to have no virtue of humanness as they are insensitive toward students and their needs. The toilets are being locked like personal inheritance and kept under the heritage care by keeping its keys under strict supervision currently being used by two faculty members at the cost of students.


Currently all the scholars and students are using the toilets facilities at Arts department, far from the their parent departments. HPU had made recently visited by the NAAC team conferred A-grade with esteemed hospitality of state government and university administration which reportedly served Royal dinner to its members who remained fail to observed such apathy being meted out by the administration and faculty members towards students.
