Construction firm partner held for non payment of EPF

Mandi police today arrested private constructor and was sent for six month jail for non payment of penal damages and interest senior functionary of EPF confirmed. Regional PF Commissioner Uma Mandal confirmed that Lalit Sharma partner of M/s Vinayak Construction of village and post office Jhola Thalot of Mandi distirct was arrested today for non payment of penal damages and interest as he was sent to Kaithu Jail for six month by Recovery Officer of Employees Provident Fund Organisation Regional Office Shimla Mr. Ashim Chhabra.

 

The construction Company had defaulted in payment of provident fun dues and penal damages and interest were levied to the tune of Rs11,07,849. A sum of Rs 88,606 was recovered from the principal employer  M/s National Hydropower Corporation Larji of District Kullu and warrant of arrest for recover of Rs 10.22,343 was issued against him. The Mandi police today produced  the partner of the company before the Recovery Officer who sent him to Kaithu jail for non payment of above EPF amount.

 

The coercive action was initiated against the company as the amount of penal damages and interest could no be recovered through notice demand, bank attachment, third party attachment show cause notice to employer. Regional Office Shimla is launching a drive for recovery of all outstanding demand in the month of Mar 2017. All the EPF defaulters are again advised to make payment of outstanding dues to avoid such coercive action, she added.
