Slight respite from cold waves, sky overcast in HP

The cold waves give little respite as it was mainly dry in the State and overcast today. The minimum temperatures increased by two to three degrees during the last 24 hours in the State as Keylong in Lahaul Spiti district was coldest at minus 11.6 degrees, Kalpa minus 2.8 degrees and Bhuntar in Kullu zero degree.


Tourist resort Manali was recorded at one degree, Chamba and Shimla 1.6 degrees each, Solan 1.8 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi 2.4 degrees, Bilaspur 3.7 degrees, Mandi 3.8 degrees, Kangra four degrees, Hamirpur 5.7 degrees, Dharamshala 6.2 degrees, Una 6.4 degrees and Nahan 7.2 degrees respectively.


The Met office forecast rain or snowfall at most places in the high reaches and mid hills and rain or thunder showers at many places in the
foot hills during the next 24 hours. It has also issued warning that heavy rainfall and snowfall may occur at one or two places in next two days.
