Fresh snowfall in high reaches of HP

There are reports of fresh snowfall in high reaches of Himachal Pradesh as it was overcast in tourist resorts and Met office forecast rain and snowfall  in parts of the State today. Reports arriving said that Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded 1.6 centimeters fresh snowfall and day temperature was just 6.6 degree Celsius today and high reaches of Kullu like Marhi, Kothi and Palchang experienced 7 cm snowfall.

 

The Gateway to Lahaul Spiti, 13050 ft high Rohtang Pass recorded about 30 cm snowfall. With heavy snowfall on the pass today it became unfit for the plying of vehicular traffic as earlier the administration was allowing only selected vehicles in between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs in the day. In Lahaul Spiti district, Koksar and Keylong recorded more snowfall of around 12 to 15 cm in the day today.

 

Tourist resort Manali and Bhunter recorded 1.2 mm and 0.6 mm rainfall. The maximum temperature of Manali was recorded 7.6 degrees today, Kangra recorded traces of rainfall and Dhauladhar ranges had snowfall. The cold waves increased in the State with black cloud and overcast sky.

 

Tourist resort Kufri, Narkanda and Shimla was overcast and day temperature recorded was 14 degree Celsius and down by 5 degree, Bhunter 13.5 degrees, Dharmshala 16.2 degrees, Solan and Nahan in Sirmaur 19 degrees each, Sundernagar 20 degrees, Kangra 21.7 degrees and Una 24.7 degrees respectively. The Met Office forecast rain and snowfall at isolated parts of mid and high reaches and dry weather in the foothills during the next 24 hours however it forecasts widespread rain and snowfall for Jan 6 and  Jan 7  in the State.
