The prominent tourist place Naldehra located near Shimla city would soon come up as International Golfing destination as the HP State Government has undertaken an ambitious project for developing eco-tourism park and up-gradation of existing properties at this place. This was stated by HP Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh after laying the foundation stone of Eco-Tourism Park at Naldehra today to be completed at an outlay of Rs. 10.63 crore.
The project would be executed jointly by the State Tourism Department and Tourism Development Corporation under the financial assistance from Asian Development Bank (ADB). He said this golf course would be one of its kinds in the entire north India and the facility of training for learning basics of golf would also be made available here for the visitors. The existing facilities would be refurnished as per the international standards which would go a long way in further boosting tourism activities in this area.
The Chief Minister said there would be separate paths for mules and pedestrians so that visitors could walk free and enjoy the natural splendor of Naldehra. The effective steps would also be taken to check soil erosion, protection of forest area besides renovating the existing club house, cottages and providing facilities of rain shelters, public toilets, restaurant etc.
It is remarkable that the golf course at Naldehra was established in 1905 by the then Viceroy of India Lord Curzon and since then it has turned out to be full-fledged golf destination and leisure destination which is visited by a large number of tourists round the year. With the development of Eco-Tourism Park, up-gradation of existing properties and more public facilities, the influx of visitors would definitely go high.
