Tourists destination of Himachal Pradesh likely to ring in white New Year as the Met office forecast snow in parts of the State in the next 24 hours. Director of Meteorological Office, Mr. Manmohan Singh said that tourist destinations may ring in a white New Year as Shimla town was partly cloudy today. He said that the Western Disturbances create hopes to new year revelers to celebrate the last day of 2016 amidst snowflakes like Christmas as few parts of the State in mid and high hills may have snowfall and rain.
New year forecast issued by the Met Office said that there are high chances of snow or rainfall across the State from January 3 onward and tourist resorts like Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda, Manali, Kalpa and Dalhousie may experience good spell of snowfall form January 3 to 6. Alhough there has been no snowfall in the State since December 25, temperatures across the State have been quite low.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest in the State with a low of -2.4 degrees Celsius, Kalpa recorded a night temperature of -1.4 degrees, while it was 1.4 degrees in Manali and 8.6 degrees in Dharamshala. Shimla, known for the imperial grandeur of buildings that were once institutions of power when it was the summer capital of British India, saw a low of 6.3 degrees Celsius.
