NCW has taken cognizance of such reports  on the feed back of NGOs and officers of administration however it set aside the clean chit given by the Himahcal Pradesh State Commission chairperson. Recently a series media reports appeared in number of vernaculars about solemnizing of marriage of brides alleging that under the garb of their marriages brides were sold to outsiders from backward areas of Shilai and Giripar of Sirmaur distirct of Himachal Pradesh.

The Himachal Pradesh State Women Commission (HPSWC) Chairperson Ms. Jainab Chandel have visited the area and dismissed such media reports terming them malicious and unfounded however one officer of district administration owned the reports partly stating that as many as 370 girls have dropped out from their schooling in the area. Replying to media query on the sideline of hearing Ms. Sharma observed that “It is unfortunate that HPSWC have given the clean chit into alleged reports however it should not have given clean chit without visiting and probing the inputs about  bride sold in the area”. NCW decided to probe the bridal purchase beside it had also ordered the state woman commission to probe the matter afresh she said adding that reports are of serious in nature and it should not be taken lightly by the HPSCW.

Now the matter is before the NCW and it was under its active consideration she said informing that the way HPSCW hurriedly gave clean chit is raises question marks on its functioning. HP Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh has been lashed out the media person and local SDM for flaring the issue and slapped transfer order on the SDM Shilai Mr. Vikas Shukala for releasing the report about school drop out by the girl.

Ms. Sharma suggested that special campaign should be launched in the state to sort out gender based  crime beside educating woman about their rights so that they could report such cases against them. NCW has listed about 100 case about violence against women here in a circuit bench held at Bachat Bhavan today disposed about 50 cases. She appreciated the State that compared to other states there are very less cases of women harassment before the NCW.
