The minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Sh. Anil Sharma on the occasion of ‘Meet the Press’ programme organized by Shimla Press Club today highlighted the achievements of Rural Development and Animal Husbandry departments during this year. He said MNREGA has been one of the most important programmes of the Government for carrying developmental works in rural areas in the State.
Rs. 337 crore has been spent so far during the current financial year for various developmental works in the State. A sum of Rs. 600 crore has been allocated for MNREGA works in the State. As many as 4.23 lakh families in the State have been covered under this programme for providing employment out of which 20302 families were given hundred days employment near their homes.
The Minister said that the State Government has received a project worth rupees 1 crore for the perpetuation of Sahiwal breed of cows in the State. Gauvansh Samardhan Board has also been constituted in the State for protection of cattles.
