The Indian Meteorological Department today said that Western Disturbances are likely to bring rain, thundershowers at isolated places in the mid and rain and snowfall at parts of high reaches of Himachal Pradesh. However it is likely to be mainly dry in the foothills. Met Office Shimla Director Mr. Manmohan Singh told Himvani that the Thursday Western Disturbance are likely to bring rainfall and thunder showers in the mid hills of the State and rain or snowfall at isolated parts in the higher reaches. He said that in the foot hills weather to remain mainly dry.
Two and half months old dry spell continues in the State and many parts of the State was foggy in the foothills during the wee hours. During the day Shimla tourist resort witnessed warm sunshine as local people and tourists enjoyed pleasant weather at the Ridge and Mall road.
The minimum temperature of Shimla was recorded at 12 degrees moreover it was 6 degree above normal, Keylong was coldest with low at -2 degrees Celsius nearly normal and Kalpa 2.4 degrees. Tourist resort Manali was at 2.4 degrees and 2 degree above normal, Bhuntar in Kullu was at 1 degree and Chamba 2.8 degrees.
Mandi was 4.1 degrees and one degree below normal. Sundernagar 1.6 degrees and Bilaspur 4.2 degrees and 2 degrees below normal, Solan 4. 5 degrees, Palampur was low at 6 degrees, Kangra 6.6 degrees, Hamirpur 6.8 degrees, Una 7.4 degrees, Dharamshala 10.2 degrees and Nahan 10.7 degrees respectively.
