The interns of Himachal Pradesh Government Dental College today called off their 5 days long strike after having assurance from the State Health Minister Mr. Kaul Singh Thakur to concede their demands, a press statement issued by the agitating interns said. The Dental doctors were seeking to fill up the vacant posts through the State Service Commission as since 2013 not a single posts has been advertised by the State.

Intern HPGDC Shimla Dr. Naresh said that during the meeting at the State Secretariat, the minister assured them to advertise 70 new posts shortly, besides the State will also fill up their posts routinely every year. The Health Minister also assured the delegation that it would sympathetically consider their demand to appoint a Dentist in Primary health Center level.

Earlier around 250 interns of IGMC Shimla were on strike to their demands agitating that after completion of courses they were forced to render jobless as the State was taking them lightly by not filling vacant posts for the last many years, he added.
