Virbhadra demands change of Judge in his DA case

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today wrote to Chief Justice of India (CJI) Mr. Tirath Singh Thakur and the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court Ms. G. Rohini seeking the judge, currently hearing the disproportionate assets case against him to be changed. A letter written by Mr. Anand Chauhan to CJI of SC and CJ of Delhi HC mentioned that the solicitors general Mr. Mukal Rohtgi and Delhi HC judge hearing bail application of Mr. Chauhan and DA case petition of Mr. Singh are relative and the judge should be changed owing to their social affiliation.

Mr. Singh who also received the same letter endorsed the same and also forward it to CJI and Delhi HC demanding to change judge in his DA case. Mr. Chauhan is believed to have helped Mr. Singh by mentioning his name and his family members in policy worth Rs 5 Crore. The Central Bureau of Investigation had informed Delhi High Court about its completion of the investigation in the case and that it wanted to file a charge sheet.

However, the CBI could not file a charge sheet without the court’s permission, as mentioned in an earlier order by the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The Supreme Court later transferred the case to the Delhi HC. Earlier, the court had extended the custody of the LIC agent, Anand Chauhan. However, Virbhadra Singh has maintained that the raids conducted at his residence and other premises by the CBI, were done with malafide intentions and that he was made a target of some political vendetta.
