Girl alleges abduction; lodges complaint before court

Dharamshala: A 17-year-old girl and resident of village Bhor Balli has lodged a complaint with the chief judicial magistrate here that she was kidnapped from her house by a group of persons, including two women, and was forcibly married to a youth who was working in a factory at Baddi.

In her complaint she claimed she escaped from the clutches of her abductors at around midnight of March 30. Kangra district police chief Atul Fulzele today said that the girl in her report stated that on the night of March 26, Surender Kumar, Chhotu Ram, Ramesh Chand, Sonu, Sumna Devi and Veena Devi, all residents of Nagal, came to her house and kidnapped her and took her in a vehicle to Baddi in Solan.

The SSP said that the victim claimed she was forced to marry Surender Kumar, who is working in a factory at Baddi. She further said that she managed to run away from their clutches on the night of March 30 and reached her home. He said the CJM has directed the police under section 156(3) CrPC to register a case against the alleged accused persons. He said police registered a case of kidnapping and forcible marriage against the accused persons under sections 363 and 366 IPC.
