The Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HRTC) today issued a press release to continue accepting the demonetized Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency note till December 24, 2016. This was disclosed by the HP State Government senior functionary and the Transport minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr. G.S. Bali in a press release issued today.
“State owned transport unit HRTC would accept all forms of taxes and other assets, residence and shop fare from in Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency note though it was demonetised by the Central Government and RBI recently” Mr. Bali said in press statement issued today. He said that old currency notes would be accepted till December 24, 2016. He said that any form of payment to be made to transport department or HRTC to be accepted in old currency which principally including the registration fee, all form of fees, token tax, special road taxes and penalties.
The Minister said the directions have been issued by the Government to all concerned head of department to follow this decision. The Government move has been reportedly taken in wake of failure of RBI and center swaps old currency notes to the people in the State and declining of state recovery in various forms after demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes.
