Amid sobbing by thousands of persons, mortal remains of former Minister, Sh. ID Dhiman were consigned to flames at a crematorium near Bhornaj today afternoon.Sh. Dhiman had died of a cardiac arrest at his residence early this morning. He was 82 years old and left behind his wife a, one son and two daughters. His lone son Dr. Anil Dhiman is Deputy Director with the Health and Family department. Anil Dhiman, son of the former minister lit the pyre amid sobbing scenes that were witnessed at the crematorium.
While BJP was led by former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to pay his respects to the departing leader, the Congress party was led by Chief parliamentary secretary, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal. Deputy Commissioner Madan Chauhan and District Police chief Ajay Bodh represented the state government on this occasion. He was sitting MLA from Bhoranj (Reserve) assembly constituency and had been six timers MLA.
Dhiman had joined the active politics of the BJP after retirement from education Department as a school Principal. He was elected to the Himachal Pradesh State Legislative Assembly in 1990, 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2007 from Mewa constituency and in 2012 from Bhoranj, Hamirpur district H.P for record sixth time. He served as the Education Minister during 1998-2003, and was re-appointed to the same post in 2008. People thronged the residence of the former minister once news of his death was released through social media in the morning hours.
Leaders of various political parties and social organizations have mourned the death of Dhiman and have sent their condolences to the bereaved family. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and other cabinet ministers have mourned the death of veteran BJP leader and have sent condolences to his family members. Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and other senior BJP leaders have mourned the death of Dhiman. Dhumal and other BJP leaders visited Dhiman’s Dialari residence and consoled the bereaved family. Anurag Thakur MP has also sent his condolences to the family and has described ID Dhiman as a great leader of state and the BJP.
