Road connectivity in hard areas top priority: Virbhadra Singh

    Himachal Pradesh Government was paying added attention for development of hard and tribal areas and to provide them road connectivity besides strengthening the health and educational infrastructure in such areas said Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh today while addressing simultaneous public meetings at Jiskoon and Kwar in the remote Dodra-Kwar region of Shimla district.

     

    Taking cognizance of the poor condition of road from Gosangu to Jiskoon, the Chief Minister hit out at the contractor and asked the concerned department to conduct an inquiry in this regard. Expressing his displeasure after the inspection of the Jiskoon road, the Chief Minister directed to reconstruct the road and ensure its proper alignment and drainage. He said that road connectivity was the life line of hard areas and any negligence in construction of roads would not be tolerated. The Chief Minister also directed to complete all the on-going development works in the area before the winter sets in.

     

    He said that there was an urgent need for training of un-employed youth to enhance their skills for seeking job opportunities and self employment. Keeping this in view the Government has established HP Kaushal Vikas Nigam to synergise skill and livelihood training programme of different departments for the youth. He said that Government was implementing Skill Development Allowance Scheme wherein a sum of Rs. 1000 for general youth and Rs. 1500 for physically challenged was being given under the Scheme. The Government has also started vocational education in 500 schools enabling students to learn various trades.

     

    The Chief Minister announced employee’s vocational training centre to be opened at Kwar.  He also announced Primary Health Centre (PHC)  at Dodra, up-gradation of Community Health Centre (CHC) Kwar to Civil Hospital and also directed for construction of building for the hospital, PHC for Jiskoon.  Besides, he also announced Sub-Fire Station at Kwar and a mini bus stand at Dhandharwari. He also announced for mettaling of Dodra-kwar road by next year and issued instructions in this regard, announced construction of road from Jiskoon to Jhakha with in six months and to construct an ambulance road from Photodwar to Kwar and mettaling of road from Kwar helipad to Chaidhar. He also announced construction of Helipad at Jhakha.

     

    The Chief Minister announced up-gradation of Government Primary Schools Dhandharwari-II,  Pujarli in Dodra and Bhavta to Middle Schools. He also announced construction of Play Ground in Government Senior Secondary School Dodra.  The other announcements includes Veterinary Dispensary at Jaskoon, conducting survey for opening I&PH Sub-Division at Dodra-Kwar. Shri Virbhadra also assured that the demand pertaining to opening of branch of any Bank would be taken up with the concerned authorities. Earlier, the Chief Minister was given a rousing traditional welcome on  reaching Dodra-Kwar. He was accompanied by MLA Shri Mohan Lal Brakta who also spoke on the occasion and supported the demands as raised by the local Panchayat representatives of the area.
