The State unit of Communist Party of India (Marxist – CPIM) welcomed Supreme Court decision to implement the Lodha panel recommendations in letter and spirit. The Party secretariat Mr. Tekinder Singh Panwer said that SC would ensure that respective state cricket bodies also follow similar move to rid off cohorts of the ruling parties and the bureaucracy.

The Party said that apex court decisions not to have a minister or a bureaucrat in the BCCI is commendable to assist scrubbing the cricket body from the dirt and muck carried from years together. He said that decision is appreciable as it suggested one person one position and not to flounder with that in various bodies. The party would also like to reiterate and bring on record the dossiers sent by the previous central government to the IOA for the democratization of sports in the country.

It is high time that windfall business interests in sports are set aside and all games are given its due so that sports could be on a mass scale and the control could be with democratic channels and newer institutions are created which are transparent and answerable.
