HC order police to take action against illegal parking of HRTC buses

The Himachal Pradesh High Court ordered Shimla Superintendent to take action against illegal parking on the main roads of the town as warranted under law in case. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan passed these orders in a petition filed by petitioner Asha Chauhan. The court had converted this petition into public interest litigation appreciating the public cause of the matter.

 

The Petitioner has challenged a tender notice issued by the H.P. Bus Stand Management and Development Authority (HPBSMDA) Shimla to repair the Old Bus Stand in January last year. The court also directed the Regional Manager (Legal) HRTC to ensure that no bus belonging to HRTC is parked on the road side. The court also made it clear that in case any breach of these direction is noticed the RMs and concerned Divisional Manager should be made accountable dealing accordingly.

 

The petitioner alleged that under the garb of repairing work, HPBSMDA converting waiting Room of bus stand to shopping complex. Since the land of bus stand falls under the forest department and the court also directed the Divisional forest Officer Shimla to remain present before the court on Oct 24, 2016.
