Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government today ordered a Crime Investigation Department probe into a case of suicide by an unmarried woman, in which a senior police official has been booked. State Director General of Police GS Gill told reporters that he has ordered a CID probe in the case. However, Gill said no timeframe has been fixed for the CID to complete the investigation. “The CID has been asked to do it on a priority basis,” he added.
Inspector General (Law and Order) Pradeep Kumar Sarpal, his wife and his son Sidharth, were booked on Sunday under Sections 306 and 201 (abutment to suicide and causing destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.
