Shifting of HPPCL Corporate Office: HC issues notice

The Himachal Pradesh High Court today issued a notice to the Himahcal Pradesh Chief Secretary, other officials and Managing Director and Director Personnel, HPPCL (H.P. Power Corporation Limited) on the issue of shifting of the Corporate Office of HPPCL from its present location at Tutikandi, Shimla to BCS, Shimla.

 

The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma directed the respondents to file status report within one week in the matter issuing notices to CS, Secretary Power, Secretary Finance and MD of HPPCL today. The Division Bench passed these orders on a petition taken up suo moto by the Court on a letter written to the Chief Justice by employees of HPPCL alleging that Management has decided to shift the office from its present location HIMFED Bhawan,  Tutikandi,  Shanti Kutir, Chakkar, Shimla and Uttam Bhawan Dogra Lodge, Shimla to HIMFED Building, BCS, New Shimla.

 

The petitioners have alleged in the petition that it was working on Govt. loan and is not in position to pay higher rent for building on monthly basis from 6 lacs to 15 lacs. They are afraid for loosing their salaries or financial benefits in near future due to the burden on the corporation.
