Bear assaults woman at Nither

    Bear assaulted a woman at Jhali village of Nither gram panchayat leaving her in injured condition today. Thirty years old Mandu Devi was assaulted by a growling bear this morning when she was working in apple orchard in Nither gram panchayat of Anni subdivision in Kullu district today.

    The victim was rushed to Nither primary health center for first aid and later referred to Zonal Hospital Rampur. The woman got number of injuries on the face, neck, belly and foot. Local people rescued the woman when she cried for help. Gram Panchayat member Hoshiyar Singh said that this was third attack of bear on people and he demanded to cage the bear as it was creating panic in area.

    The Range wildlife and Divisional Forest Officer of Lhuri Mr. B K Aggarwal said that after having the report about the bear attack he sent a team in the affected village to take stock of the situation.
