As many as 1650212 ration cards would be digitalized out of total 1818399 ration cards in the State. This was stated by the Civil Supply Minister Mr.G.S. Bali today.
He said that the Department would complete the task by the end October this year. Software has been developed to monitor supply of PDS food grains from FCI godowns to up-to fair price shops through computerized module. This would restrict black marketing of PDS and food grains shall reach to actual beneficiaries.
The Department is going to automate transaction done in the fair price shops under this process. Tender has been floated to do a pilot in 54 fair price shops of Shimla urban area. The Department has developed transparency portal (ePDS.co.in). Any person could view this portal and post the grievances if any.
He said that the department also launched a toll-free number 1967 or 1800-180-8026 and till date it got 58530 calls handled at the call centres. He said that to ensure quality food grains being distributed through the Depots.
About 711 samples of food grains were taken during 2015-16 weight and measure wing did 17263 inspections of which 1313 prosecution or challans were made against defaulters and amount of Rs. 2365200 was recovered.
