The President departs for Delhi after five days stay in Shimla

The President of India Mr. Pranab Mukherjee today departed for Delhi after five days State stay at the Retreat amid the thick groves of Deodar and Apple orchards in Shimla town.

Mr. Mukherjee who was here along with his daughter Sumishta Mukherjee and Rashtrapati Bhavan staff for beating the sweltering heat waves of the national capital, took off in Indian Air force Chopper from Kalyani helipad near Chharabra at 1155 hours today and took Air force plane from Chandigarh for Delhi at 1235 hours.

Before the departure, one of the two Air force chopper took recce of the entire areas of Mashobra, Kufri and Shimla hills for the safe departure of the President of India. He was bid farewell at Kalyani helipad by the Governor of Himachal Pradesh Acharya Dev Vrat, Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh, members of cabinet, Mayor of Shimla MC Mr. Sanjay Chuhan along with others.

Mr. Mukherjee had arrived at Shimla on Jun 2nd and stayed at The Retreat. The location of ‘The Retreat Building’ in Shimla and the ‘Rashtrapati Nilayam’ in Hyderabad are indicative of the integrative role of the Office of the President of India in our country. These locations, one in north and another in south, symbolise unity of our country and unity of our diverse cultures and people.
