Five die, 24 injured in separate road mishaps

Shimla: Five persons were killed and 24 others injured in two separate accidents in Himachal today. In the first mishap, five person were killed on the spot and one sustained injuries as the vehicle carrying them met with an accident at Lalpani-Morh near Nerva in Chopal sub-division of Shimla district this afternoon.

Police said that the Alto car, on its way to Chopal, fell down into a deep gorge and five persons died on the spot. All the bodies have been recovered and brought for postmortem to Chopal hospital. The deceased were identified as Shusma Sood (40), her husband Ramesh Sood (48), Madhu Sudan Sharma, Balmukand, Rajesh Punjabi (deriver) while injured Ishwar Singh was rushed to Chopal hospital form where he has been referred to IGMC Shimla.

In another accident, 23 persons were injured when a bus and a tanker collided at Sundernagar. Some of the injured are reported to be critical. Police source said that the accident occurred this afternoon when a private bus on way to Bilaspur form Mandi collided with tanker at Chmukha. All injured were admitted to Sundernagar civil hospital.
