Ponta sizzles at 44 degrees Celsius, Una at 43. 2 degrees Celsius

The dry weather and heat waves affected normal life in the State as Mercury rose couple of degrees above from the normal. Ponta Sahib in Sirmaur and Una was high at 44 degrees and 43.2 degrees respectively in the day today.

Following heat waves a devastating fire broke out in the Taradevi reserve oak forests engulfing huge chunk of forest ranges so far, about 6000 hectare forest has been came under the forest fire in the State. The fresh fire incidents reported after dry and heat waves in the State once again.

Sundernagar in Mandi recorded high at 38.2 degrees, Bhuntar 36.2 degrees, Nahan 37 degrees, Solan 34 degrees, Dharamshala 33 degrees, Kalpa 25 degrees and Shimla 28.9 degrees.

Met office forecast mainly dry weather in the State during the next 24 hours and no respite likely to take place from the sweltering heat waves.
