Mercury rises with sudden increase in temperature in the State

The sudden increase in the day temperature shot up the mercury in this Hill State. Light rainfall and wind storms in few parts of the State disrupted movement of vehicular traffic, trains, power supply and telecommunication services.

Mercury sizzled to 41.8 degrees Celsius in Una on Saturday in the day with bright sunshine and heat waves. Shimla was recorded 27.6 degrees, Sundernagar 36 degrees, Bhuntar 35 degrees, Kalpa 22 degrees, Dharamshala 30.6 degrees, Nahan 34.6 degrees and Solan 31.5 degrees.

In Solan and nearby area a high velocity winds storm affected life as tree and power posts grounded disrupting the movement of vehicles, rail and power supply. Shimla bound passenger train halted for more than one hour as a massive tree uprooted near Kaleen village. The passengers trains packed with tourists on the heritage track had stranded for more than one hour. It proceeded to Shimla after the tree was removed from the track.

Saloni in Chamba district recorded 5 mm rain till 0830 hrs and Bharmor 3 mm.

Met office forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours in most part of the State except rain and thundershowers in isolated places in the high reaches.
