The National Road Safety Council (NRSC) today exposed the HP State Government for showing no regard to the Supreme Court verdict asking the states to install speed governor to regulate the over speeding responsible for most of the road mishaps.
The member of the Road safety council Mr. Kamal Soi today said that it was mandatory for respective States to install speed governors to mitigate road mishaps. However, Himachal which includes among the road accident prone State hardly showed any regards to maintain the road safety measures suggested by the SC after giving a verdict in a petition filed before the Court.
Mr. Soi interacting to media persons said that as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report for the year 2014 about 1403 deaths and 6085 injuries in 3325 road accidents were recorded.
NRSC Study says that a very large volume of deaths occurred in the country of commercial vehicles on highway and one of the main reasons for it is over speeding. Since commercial vehicles play a major role in the country to ferry, the people death toll remains to the higher sides could be averted after taking the effective steps.
Stressing the need to take up effective steps to avoid such eventuality, he said that during the last three days this hill state recorded as many as 22 deaths in three different road accidents. Mr. Soi said that he met with the State Transport Secretary Mr. Sanjay Gupta who assured him to take the SC order to logical convulsion to avert road accidents.
