HRTC to start 15 new Volvo Services

The Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) decided to enhance its fleet of Volvo services on each interstate route as the transport minister Mr. G.S. Bali announced today that 15 new Volvo services will be started in between more tourists and shrine cities to various States and district headquarters in the country.

Addressing the media persons this afternoon, the HP Transport Minister Mr. G.S.Bali said that HRTC will add new Volvo services including Jawalaji to Delhi, Chintpurni to Delhi, Dharamshala to Dehradun to Haridwar, Dharamshala to Srinagar, Baijnath to Haridwar, Kullu to Manali to Delhi, Manali to Haridwar and 5 buses to be allotted to Tara Devi Depot (Shimla to Katra, Rampur to Delhi, Shimla to Lucknow en route Delhi, Shimla to Manali and Hamirpur to Delhi) and Dharamshala Depot.

Three hundred additional new buses are being procured out of which 180 small buses will be run in rural areas, he added.

Mr. Bali said that transport would procure battery operated 50 mini and heavy vehicles from the centre as MOU has been signed with the Union Urban Development and surface transport ministry recently. The Minister said that state would run CNG buses from its filling station being set up at Haroli in Una district likely to extend in between Bilaspur and Kullu soon.

To reduce the congestion from the surface transport the State has decided to shift to the alternate mode of transport as the State sought principal permission from the Center to switch over to water and Ropeways based transportation mode.
