The Shimla Municipal Corporation today took a long leap after roping up the online payment gateway for depositing of the water bill, House Tax, Rental of Commercial Properties giving a major reprieve to thousands of citizens from standing in long queues.
Deputy Mayor Shimla Mr. Tekinder Singh Panwer who chaired the MC house meeting today laid the proposal for the consideration of MC house regarding online payment Gateway facility for Municipal Corporation Shimla.
The Mayor of MC had earlier directed nationalized banks to submit the proposal to provide the benefits with the similar facility but no bank showed any interest after offering the proposal.
Assistant Commissioner Mr. Prashant Sarkaik laying the agenda in the house said that HDFC bank was ready to provide the payment gateway to the MC with no charges as the bank offered to give full waiver for all the charges for integration with software, annual Maintenance and Transaction charges for the Payment Gateway either for Debit or credit card or net banking.
It would facilitate the people at large by reducing the inconvenience being caused to them as they have to stand in long queues for payment of different services of MC Shimla. To acquire this facility MC has to open a bank account in HDFC bank beside this the counters of branches in different locations in the town.
The house adopted the proposal with voice votes accepting the proposal submitted by the bank. The Department of Information Technology already cleared the proposal stating that it found suitable as per their requirement of the online payment.
