CM dedicates ultra-modern fire equipment to the people


The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh today dedicated the first ultra modern fire tender to Raj Day fire department centre which would be capable to douse down the highly uncontrollable fire breakout in the oil tanker, transformers, electric equipments, power projects and vehicles due to inflammable substances.

The State fire department has got a fleet of seven such ultra modern foam based fire tenders capable to meet with such eventuality in the State itself. First of its kind fire tender was flagged off at CTO by Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh.

He said that State has about 150 fire tenders and light vehicles however, with the addition of these fire tenders the fire department could control the fire causing huge losses of life and property in the State as state earlier did not have such foam based fire tenders.

Last years a fire broke out in Sanjay Power house in Rampur subdivision and took more than five days to douse down the transformer fire inside the project unit taking about three lives. The State fire department had taken the assistance of outside agencies to use the foam based fire tenders.

State Fire officer Mr. Bhopal Chauhan said that seven fire tenders have been procured by the State fire department would be used at highly sensitive places in the State where threat of such fire loom is very high.

He said that first such fire tenders was dedicated to this capital town as it is more efficient to control devastating fire in short time while state have number of such places and installations where such fire tenders require for fire combat.

Largest public sector unit of Himachal, State electricity board have to render massive revenue losses as 120 mega watt Sanjay Jal Vidyut power project at Bhawanagar is out of generation since January 22, 2015 after massive fire mishap and losses likely to mount up to Rs 29.39 Crore.
