CM inaugurates new parking and commercial complex of Municipal Corporation at Chhota Shimla

The HP State Government is making sincere efforts to reduce the traffic congestion in Shimla town and two more parking areas are coming up at Tutikandi and near Lift, said Chief Minister Mr. Virbhadra Singh after the inaugurating of the five floor parking-cum-commercial complex of Municipal Corporation Shimla completed with an outlay of Rs 20 crore at Chhota Shimla today.

He said that this parking would provide the much-needed relief to the people and would facilitate parking for as many as 400 vehicles. Besides, the parking would be given for a concession period of thirty years with the concession fee amounting to Rs 36 lakhs per annum with the increase of 10 percent every two years.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion the Chief Minister said that a similar parking was coming up near lift on the cart road and at TutiKandi which will have the parking capacity of parking around 250 and 1000 vehicles respectively. The parking at lift would soon be completed and will have seven floors.

He said Shimla being a popular and famous tourist destination the government was committed to facilitate all the basic facilities. The efforts were on for a proper traffic management system in the town, said he. A similar parking was also proposed near IGMC Shimla and all the parking areas would be made on Build, Operate, Own and Transfer (BOOT) basis on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
