The District unit of Jewellers Association today burned the effigy of Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley in Shimla this morning.
The President of Shimla Jewellers Association Mr. Atul Tangri said that they stopped the Kalka bound Special train at 0830 hours this morning however, they allowed it to move on after stopping it for half a hour. He said that later they also closed down the Shimla-Kalka road near Victory tunnel.
The Jewellers are demanding to withdraw the excise duty imposed on the jewellers by the Union Government in the recent General Budget. The jewellers were protesting from Mar 2 after the Union Government started the new tax regime of taking copy of PAN cards in the State.
