Snowfall, thunderstorms and rain lashed many part of Himachal Pradesh


Giving a little respite from the prevailing long dry spell condition in many parts of the State snowfall, thunderstorm and rain lashed many parts of Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan and Chamba districts today.

The high reaches of Lahaul Spiti, Chamba,Kullu, Kinnaur and Shimla got light snowfall in the last 24 hours increasing cold waves in the downstream. The dusty thunderstorms disrupt life in parts of Shimla, Solan and Bilaspur district as dark clouds hovered in the sky since last night.

Bilaspur got highest 22 mm rainfall in the state, Shimla 6 mm, Kufri and Kangra 4 mm each, tourist resort Dalhousie 2 mm, Sunderngar in Mandi, Dharamshala in Kangra district and Bhunter in Kullu 1 mm each.

The minimum temperature of Shimla was recorded 5.8 degrees, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti 0.6 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur 1.2 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi  9.6 degrees, Bhuntar 7.5 degrees, Dharamshala  10.4 degrees, Una 12 degrees, Nahan 11.6 degrees, Solan 8.8 degrees, Manali 1.8 degrees and Kangra 10.8 degrees respectively.

The maximum temperature of Sundernagar was 23 degrees, Dharamshala 20.6 degrees, Shimla 16 degrees, Bhuntar 21.2 degrees, Kalpa 14 degrees, Una 27.8 degrees, Nahan 24.3 degrees, Solan 20.8 degrees, Kangra 25.2 degrees and tourist resort Manali 13.6 degrees,

The Met office forecasts rain and snowfall at many places in next 24 hours in the State.
