Don’t allow T-20 match with Pakistan on the bodies of Martyrs

In a major blow to BCCI General Secretary and HPCA President Mr. Anurag Thakur, there was unanimity among the ruling and opposition in the State to not allow the T-20 match being played between India and Pakistan on March 19th, 2016 in Dharamshala.

Himachal Ex-servicemen League once again strongly opposed the hosting of T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan at Dharamshala. They have now decided to shoot letters to RSS supremo Mr. Mohan Bhagwat, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and BCCI President Shashank Manohar to intervene in the matter.

We would not allow the match on the land of the brave as the match could not be held on the bodies of the martyrs. However every effort would be done to stop the member of Pakistan team to put their steps on the land of Kangra. We would ensure how to protest so that Pakistan team could not come here to play the T-20 match on this land of braves.

HPCA has done a major blunder and insult of the family members of Pathankot Airbase assault martyrs after offering the money earned from the T-20 match to be played at Dharamshala stadium, Chairman of the Ex-Servicemen League, Mr. Vijay Singh Mankotia said while interacting to the media persons at Dharamshala today.

He said that the BCCI Chief would be urged to reconsider its decision keeping in view the sentiments of families of the martyrs.

Releasing statement earlier on Feb 11 Mr. Vijay Singh Mankotia had said “Terror and T20 cannot go together and the BCCI must review its decision after the terrorist attack on Pathankot Airbase in which 2 Jawans of Himachal were killed. BCCI must honour and respect the sentiments of families of martyrs and other patriotic people.”

“After the terrorist attack on Air Base at Pathankot, the BCCI should try to understand and respect the feelings not only of families of deceased soldiers but also of families of all patriotic Indians, demanding stern action against Pakistan and empathize with ex-servicemen and serving defence personnel.”

“By holding Indo-Pak T-20 match against Pakistan, the BCCI would be insulting the sacred memory of martyrs and undermining their heroic deeds and sacrifices and we appeal to the BCCI not to heap insult to injury as the patriotism and nationalism of BCCI would also be on the test,” Mr. Mankotia asserted.

Talking to media persons at Hamirpur yesterday Mr. Anurag Thakur said that India-Pakistan match would be held at Dharamshala as the Pakistan Cricket Control Board is ready to play this match. He ruled the voices being against this match and linking it with the Pathankot airbase terror attack.

It is worthwhile to mention here that earlier to hold this event Mr. Thakur himself said that terror and cricket could not be held together. BJP and its senior leader Mr. Shanta Kumar had opposed this cricket match.
