Launching a special drive to curb the illegal drug trades in the Mandi district this year, Mandi Police registered about 27 cases under NDPS Act seizing 17.199 Kilogram of charas or cannabis, 48 Grams heroin and 54.342 KG poppy husk. They arrested about 33 accused from Himachal Pradesh and from neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana.
The spokesman of Mandi Police claimed in a press release that they succeeded in nabbing the main drug and NDPS peddlers and rackets during the said campaign. Mandi Police would continue the campaign in future so as to prevent usage of illegal drugs by the youth.
He said that special drive to check the buses as per the guidelines of H.P. Government or Transport Department, all drivers and conductors of government and private buses have to mandatorily wear prescribed uniform.
Mandi Police launched a special drive to check defaulting bus drivers & conductors. During the said campaign total 585 buses were checked in the district and 229 bus drivers or conductors were found not wearing the uniform. Challans were carried out and fine amounting to Rs. 22,900/- was recovered from them.
