Mandatory of PAN card on bulk sale of Gold: State Jewellers to observe ‘bandh’

Himachal Pradesh Jewelers Association would observe one-day complete ‘bandh’ on Wednesday in protest for making PAN card mandatory for bulk sale of Gold in the State.

Treasurer of Himachal Pradesh Association Mr. Gopal Krishan said that all jewellers of the State would observe complete ‘bandh’ in the State tomorrow. He said that Union Government had made use of PAN card mandatory for the sale of Gold and other ornaments for the customer who would purchase Rs. 2 lakh jewellery.

He alleged that it would badly impact their sale as most of the people did not have PAN so far.  It is worthwhile to mention that during charging of VAT on the gold sale every jeweller would have to take the PAN number of customers while levying VAT on sale.
