With the bright sunny weather today in Himachal, people took the respite from cold waves. Tourist made a beeline to Shimla and nearby hill destinations turning more picturesque after snowfall on Sunday.
The minimum temperature was 1.3 degrees in Shimla, which saw 18 cm of snow, the Met office told. Road communications to nearby destinations like Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda was off till this morning after yesterday’s snowfall.
Snowfall experienced in several areas of Shimla like the Mall Road, the Ridge, the US Club and Jakhu hills thawing in sunny areas however it would stay for 3-4 days in shady places.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of -3.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was -2.4 in Manali and 1.6 degrees Celsius in Dalhousie. Kalpa saw 14 cm of snowfall while Manali witnessed 16 mm of rainfall.
High reaches of Manali like Gulaba, Solang and Kothi experienced moderate snowfall. Manali town remained devoid of any snowfall.
Snow and avalanche establishment centre (SASC) warned of triggering down of the avalanche in some parts of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba district after heavy snowfall.
