After experiencing snowfall and rain in the last 24 hours in the State, the mercury plunged as it kept low at -10 to -15 degrees in the tribal areas. Giving little respite to the suffering hospitality industry and long dry spell in the state, parts of Shimla, Lahaul Spiti, Mandi and Mashobra had thundershowers, sleet and snowfall in the State.
Met office recorded snowfall at Kalpa 3 cm, Bijahi in Mandi 2.5 cm and Mashobra 1.5 cm. Tourists resort Kufri and Fagu experienced light snowfall disrupting vehicular traffic partly which was restored. Snow still covered the rooftops, trees and landscape in Jakhu hills and roads have become slippery due to the freezing of water on the road.
Mercury plunged to -0.2 degrees Celsius in Shimla town, lowest of this winter season. Kaza in Spiti valley was coldest with -15 degrees and Keylong in Lahaul at -11 degrees.
Kalpa recorded low at -5 and tourist resort Manali -4.4 degrees, Seobagh in Kullu was low at -0.5 degrees, Bhunter 0.9 degrees and Solan 0.7 degrees.
Sundernager in Mandi was low at 1.6 degrees, Kangra 2 degrees, Dharamshala and Nahan 5 degrees each and Una 7.3 degrees.
The Met office forecasts mainly dry weather in next 24 hours.
