The Himachal Pradesh state has achieved the target set up by the Center under national flagship program of Sukanya Dhan Samriddhi Yojana (KSY). This was revealed by Himachal Circle Post Master General A.K. Shorie while interacting with the media persons today.
Indian post offers 9.1 percent interest rate for opening up of the new account for girls aged between 0 to 21 years, as this scheme was launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. The beneficiary can deposit Rs 1000 – Rs 1.50 lakh in one financial year in the account. The target to open about one lakh accounts under flagship program is already achieved two months ahead of the schedule period as almost 1.23 Lakh accounts have been opened till the end of December month.
Himachal is the first state in India among 22 states to achieved this target first as it was set up by the union government keeping the economic condition and population of the state. The scheme has registered deposits of about Rs 25 Cr in the state. Mr. Shorie said that India post has laid target to open about 22 ATM counters in the state expect Keylong which is cut off from the state due to snowfall.
“We have already opened two Indian post ATMs working in Shimla and Dharamshala. Moreover, 14 other ATMs will be dedicated to people by the end of February month and 6 others will be opened up till the end of this financial year expect for Reckong Peo in Kinnaur and Keylong of Lahaul-Spiti districts.” – Mr. Shorie said.
Currently 466 posts offices are being brought under Core Bank Solution(CBS) as 143 are already serving this facility he said that IP would able to achieve the target in all 466 at the end of this financial year.
He said that Center Government has set the target to bring 25000 post offices in the country under CBS and 12000 have been achieved till date. The state post office circle offering the postal life insurance to people in the state targeted about 1.07 lakh people compared to 85,174 lakh in the 2012-2013 year. The Rural postal insurance covers many far flung and remote areas offering this facility to about 28 lakh people.
