Himachal Pradesh Irrigation and Public Health Minister Ms. Vidya Stokes today visited contaminated water source near sewerage plant Malayan on an outbreak of epidemic Jaundice in a part of Shimla town.
Minister reportedly snubbed the errant officers as she was convinced on contamination of water lifting scheme at Ashwani Khud and also directed the official machinery to tap nearby sources of water to this scheme.
The number of people who had to be hospitalized due to water contamination went up to 165 as more cases are pouring in from Kasumpti, New Shimla, Mahli and Malyana and other suburbs, Mr.Panwar said.
Meanwhile Himachal Pradesh High court has asked the State Government to come up with status report on the issue within 2 days. However, it granted exemption to state chief secretary Mr. P.Mitra and other officials who appeared before the Court today.
