CPI(M) Leader and Deputy Mayor Tikender Singh Panwar today rebutted Shimla legislator and BJP counsellors of Shimla Municipal Corporation for levelling wrong charges on them about yellow line parking. Mr.Suresh Bhardwaj, BJP MLA from Shimla who is an associate member of Shimla MC levied allegations that CPI(M) led MC was imposing very expensive charges on the people of Shimla town as after levying Rs 2400 per month and Rs 80 per day parking charges on yellow line parking.
In response, Mr.Panwer said that allegation levelled are utterly ridiculous and completely hypo-critic. Moreover, BJP counsellors accorded approval during a meeting held in the month of February 26, 2015 to yellow line parking demanding separate parking quota for counsellors.
MC had identified about 15 spots having parking capacity of about 850 vehicles within yellow line in the land controlled by public works department as state cabinet approved the proposal. MC Shimla would charge Rs 600 per month on yellow line and Rs 40 per day for 12 yrs. However, BJP MLA alleged that MC would charge Rs 80 and Rs 2400 per month.
The capital town has about 60,000 registered vehicles creating menace of congestions. However yellow line parking would not only ensure them parking space but also address safety aspect. Deputy Mayor informed that parking collection vendors have been made bound to ensure the safety of vehicles.
