BJP workers fume over burning of Modi’s effigy

Opposition BJP today protested against the burning of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effigy at Deputy Commissioner Office on Monday and failure of district and police administration to take action against the members of ruling party for endangering life of common man after sprinkling inflammable petrol on the effigy publicly.

As it has been mentioned earlier that 4 Congress activists received burn injuries, 1 critically injured during burning of Modi’s effigy near Deputy Commissioner Office in Shimla on Monday.

The BJP delegation led by party spokesman Mr. Ganesh Dutt met Deputy Commissioner Shimla Mr. Danesh Malhotra and submitted a memorandum to him. Party said in the memorandum that, police remained silent spectator to this incident when Congress worker publicly sprinkled inflammable substance on the effigy of Mr. Modi which caught ablaze to many Congress workers and also endangered the life of common man.

“Police was adopting partisan behaviour towards opposition and ruling members. When BJP members recently tried to burn the effigy of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister at Deputy Commission office on the charges of corruption they were not allowed by the police to do so” BJP leader alleged.

They said that Congress workers were forced to endanger their life as they were asked by the Central Congress leader to burn the effigy of Mr. Modi to protect their leader facing National Herald case.

BJP has demanded to register FIR against Himachal Pradesh Congress committee leader for setting Modi’s effigy on fire negligently and engendering the public life. Meanwhile police has lodged a case against Congress workers at Police station Sadar for holding protest and burning of effigy yesterday.
