    Nominations process begins for rural bodies poll in Himachal Pradesh as state will go for poll on 1st, 3rd and 5th, Jan 2016 to elect more than 192 Zila Parishad, 1280 Block Samiti, 2426 Panchayat and 15438 Wards.

    State election commissioner Mr. T G Negi said in a press conference that, barring district Kangra and tribal areas, nominations begin at respective Gram Panchayat Office and District and Block offices in the State as many candidates have come forward to file their nomination.

    State Election Commission had issued a notification on Dec 5th, 2015 to hold 3 phase poll on Jan 1st, 3rd, 5th, 2016. Nominations would be filed on Dec 15th, 16th and 17th 2015, scrutiny and withdrawal to be held on 18th till 21st Dec 2015. Counting of votes will be held on polling day for Panchayats and on Jan 7th, 2015 for ZP and BPS.

    About 48,25,312 voters in the State would exercise their franchise. Hectic parley is being witnessed in State as many contenders are staking their claim in nonparty symbol poll. Multi-corner contests to be held in the poll.

    The State has announced Rs. 5 lakh for Panchayat, Rs. 10 lakh for Block Samiti and Rs. 15 lakh for Zila Parishad for electing unopposed President and Vice President.
