Temperature at Keylong drops to -6.6 degree celsius

Cold waves further intensified despite it was mainly dry and sunny for last 2 days. Keylong headquarter of Lahaul-Spiti district was coldest of this season as mercury touched -6.6 degrees today.

Entire tribal belt in the State recorded minimum temperature under subzero. Moreover, it was around -10 to -15 degrees at few places in the higher altitude. Tourist resort Manali and Kalpa recorded temepratures at -3 degrees each. Seobagh and Bhunter in Kullu recorded -2 degrees and 0 degrees respectively.

Una city along Punjab border also recorded coldest when it slid down to 0 degrees. Solan 0.4 degrees. Shimla, Kangra and Sundernagar recorded 2.4 degrees, 2.5 degrees and 2.6 degrees respectively. Nahan, Dharamshala and Mandi recorded 6.7 degrees, 6.8 degrees and 7.7 degrees respectively.

People in the State have to brave cold weather, especially in wee hours. Frequent load shedding and disruption in power supply are adding to their weather vagaries.

Met office has forecasted mainly dry weather in next 24 hours however it would not give any respite from severe cold waves.
