Water bodies freeze as mercury plunges in the State

Number of water bodies freeze as mercury plunged below zero. Suraj and Chandertal lake in Lahaul Spiti district, Manimahesh in Chamba, Prasher lake in Chamba district and water fountains along high snowline especially Chandra Bhaga river freezed due to temperatures plunging down.

Minimum temperature in most parts of the state was 5-6 degrees below normal due to recent snowfall. Minimum temperature of Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was -4.6 degrees, tourist resort Manali -3 degrees, Kalpa in Kinnaur -2 degrees and Seobagh -1.5 degrees. Bhunter airport 2 degrees, Shimla  3.4 degrees, Sundernagar 5 degrees, Solan and Kangra 6 degrees and Nahan and Mandi 8 degrees.

The Met Office has forecasted light rainfall on isolated place on next 24 hrs.
