Himachal Panchayati Raj body polls in January 2016


    State election commissioner Mr. T G Negi said in a press conference that except tribal areas, Panchayat elections will be held in three phases on 1st, 3rd, 5th Jan 2016 to elect more than 192 Zila Parishad, 1280 Block Samiti, 2426 Panchayat and 15438 Wards.

    Each Deputy Commissioner will decide the date of panchayat polls in their respective districts.

    Tentative nomination dates are 15th, 16th and 17th Dec 2015 and date of scrutiny and withdrawal will be 18th & 21st Dec 2015.

    Counting of votes will be held on polling days for Panchayats. For ZPs and BPs counting of votes will be on Jan 7th 2016. About 48,25,312 voters in the state would exercise their votes.

    State announced Rs. 5 lakh for Panchayat, Rs. 10 lakh for block samiti and Rs. 15 lakh for Zila Parishad for electing unopposed president and vice president.
