Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today alleged BJP for purposely downplaying the former congress leaders like Nehru and Indira Gandhi, calling it an act of “cheap politics” being practiced by the saffron party.
“Nehru and Indiraji were not only national leaders but also had global recognition. We can not forget their heritage of nation-building which made India reach this stage which BJP brags off nowadays.
Ignoring them is not their insult but insult of the entire nation,” said Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh after paying tribute to Indira Gandhi on her birth anniversary.
“Nehru architect of modern India founded global level education institutions like IITs and IIMs besides cultivating a scientific temper in our society.”
First Prime Mininister envisioned big dams and power projects known as temples of modern India.
The legacy of modern India was carried forward by Mrs. Indira Gandhi, said six time chief minister.
He also reminded the people of the state that Himachal was accorded full statehood by Indira Gandhi and after that she liberally funded this hilly state to carry forward the development process.
I witnessed the occasion when this happened 1971, octogenarian leader said.
